Alison Goodwin

Alison Goodwin was born in Montreal, Canada in 1959, and at the age of 9 moved with with her family to Portland, Maine. Alison studied art at the University of Southern Maine and at Portland School of Art.
Following her studies, Alison created traditional landscapes, and after several years, evolved a highly individual style. Goodwin's silk- screens simplify the elements of landscapes and interiors, placing them on planes so that they begin to totter off in tilted directions. she divides her canvases into geometric elements, and then decorates them with repeated motifs of spirals, triangles and rectangles. She saturates the whole with colors that play vibrantly with each other. Finally, framing them with her signature gold border.
