Serving Chicago’s Art Community for over 40 years!
(Updated 10/1/2024)
We have been collecting and selling original vintage posters for 30 years, and we guarantee the authenticity of all of our posters. Chicago Center for The Print was established 1978 on Fullerton Ave in Chicago and we are still in business there today!
The Poster As A Vehicle Of Advertising has unique properties; its message, embedded as it is in the fleeting events of daily life, must be perceived instantly-at a single glance. Good posters communicate through the originality of its images and through intelligent and sparing use of lettering. No wonder then, that artists of international reputation are attracted to this challenging medium.
Following the post-industrial revolution and the invention of four-color lithography, the poster process became the accepted means of advertising. Manufacturers hired artists to produce eye-catching images of their products. The characteristics of a good poster include expressiveness, bold, clean colors, and arresting yet accessible imagery. Naturally, the artists name came into play as well. Due to their general appeal and affordability, the poster became an art form collectable by the public. There are more collectors now than ever before.
