Original 1933 Chicago World’s Fair, Century of Progress Vintage Advertising Poster, by Weimer Pursell. This poster features the Hall of Science- the centerpiece of the 1933 fair. The 4 other main buildings designed for the fair at the bottom (from Lt to Rt) The Federal Building, the Electric Building, The travel & Transport  Building, and the Agriculture Building. This fair was a celebration of the city’s founding in 1833 and was intended to lift Chicago out of the depths of the Great Depression by encouraging collaboration between government,scientists and industries and celebrate the progress of humanity through scientific technology.

This poster, printed in bright block colors and streamline forms depicting the quintessentially American form of a skyscraper, designed
by Weimer Pursell a graduate of the Art Institute of Chicago. Pursell was a prominent American illustrator from the 1930’s- 1950′ working extensively in advertising and on WWII propaganda posters.
This is an Original Vintage Poster. It is not a reproduction. It is archivally mounted (linen backed). It is in Very Good condition, with one soft horizontal fold. The colors are fresh and there are no edge nicks, tears or pinholes.
